| Today coming out of class I saw this sign that said "absolutely no food or drink" this made me wonder why the sign was so insistent. I thought maybe at one point it had said "no food or drink," but this was ignored and the heads got together and said "perhaps they just don't take the sign seriously enough; they think it is kidding or there are exceptions if we change it to, 'absolutely no food or drink,' then they will listen." I wonder if the absolutely makes the difference. | | |
| Went to New York this weekend. great time. Day one: rode a bus in. saw signs (Times Square), brilliant (so many signs so bright). Tickets half price. went in Toys r Us, huge (there was a giant dinosaur, roaring), Virgin Records (got best of Sioxsie and the Banshees). lunch, Mcdonalds (huge place two stories, murals and crap). saw Chicago (good. not however Sweeney Todd). rain. went to the village (taxi adventures). rain. bus back. Day two: went on the Early show (free food). ate a bagel outside of Tiffanys. sat in Trump tower (met no one). visited expensive designer stores (fith street). went to tiffanys (saw a couple looking at a 50,000 dollar ring, ha). went to Fao Schartz, huge animals, life-size elephant, toy jags (spoiled children?). walked through Central park (woody allenesque). Met closed, downcast. walked to the Guggenheim. found a Deli (a man nearly bumped into me, and I apologized; he said, "that's fine you're in a daze and I'm doddering"). took lunch to the park (salads and torte, grapefruit juice, so good). visited Guggenheim (top three floors were closed, sadness, reduced price). walked back to Rockerfeller Center (many rich people). the rink closed (sopranos were being shot). walked to the bus.

| So I have a feeling that everything sort of cycles, and that is what is so appealing about recycling and reincarnation (by the way I just noticed that that has carnation in it; is that how you spell a type of flower). I have a feeling that things don't really cycle the way I think they do, but it is just the tendency of the human brain to make connections between things and find similarities so unrelated things become part of a pattern. I don't know about any of this, but Iraq and it being invaded by Britian and then America, and both times they said the same thing about coming to liberate seems odd, and then the harlem renaissance and then the same thing again in the sixties/seventies (black is beautiful). My life hasn't really recycled itself it turns, but it isn't a circle. However sometimes I get the feeling that it should be a circle even though it isn't. This doesn't make any sense. | | |
| So I am so sick and so tired. break is more exhausting than school just because I am ill and trying to do too much. working, possibly, too many hours. It comes down to do I love money more or my break/sanity? Money was winning, but I feel so sick right now, all of my bones ache and my head is a fire, that I think sanity had better win for the rest of the break. Tomorrow is Christmas I have barely listened to Christmas music and I can not believe it is Christmas eve I have not even had my egg nog I felt too ill I should get up and have some. any way leaving on a bright note there is a place called turkeyville. incredible? | | |
| I know full well I am really awful at updating this thing. It snowed, which is goodnews, considering as we will how I love snow. There are blankets of snow all over the ground I love the way the air smells when it snows and the way the snow feels on your skin as it is falling and the sky is clearer when there is snow on the ground. and I haven't left the campus since the snow so I haven't been forced to see the gray lump snow which is so hideous. exhaust snow. It hasn't finished melting yet there is even some on some roofs and it may snow again Friday which would be wonderful, considering how much I love snow. I like the way it paints the landscape. and the way it hangs on trees. It was falling off all day today. in small peices sort of raining out of the trees. | | |
